Due to her long-standing expertise in energy and environmental law, Dr. Dörte Fouquet has been appointed as honorary professor at Leuphana University Lüneburg, where she is a lecturer for the master’s degree course in Sustainability Law of Prof. Dr. Thomas Schomerius.

As honorary professor at the faculty of sustainability, Dr. Dörte Fouquet focuses on the legal challenges posed by the energy transition as well as on matters of nuclear law (dismantling, final storage of radioactive waste, law governing energy storage). New honorary professor Dörte Fouquet brings her extensive experience as a legal practitioner to Leuphana University, a public university with a strong interdisciplinary focus.

Dr. Fouquet studied law in Marburg an der Lahn and Hamburg from 1976 to 1982. She subsequently worked as a civil servant for the Federal State of Hamburg and was seconded to Brussels at the beginning of 1991. Since 1993, she has been working as a qualified German lawyer in Brussels; first as a partner with the law firm Kuhbier Rechtsanwälte and, since 2011, as a partner with BBH. Dörte Fouquet has helped set up BBH’s office in Brussels and expanded the firm’s European law practice at the Brussels office. She also lectures at the Florence School of Regulation (FSR). Sustainability has been one of her main areas of expertise since the beginning of her career.
