Only five weeks are left until the new EU data protection rules become binding on 25/05/2018. The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will ensure a comparable level of data protection within the European Union and is applicable to all companies dealing with personal data, e.g. customer or employee data. This scope of application includes energy supply companies.
According to the GDPR, the party accountable for compliance with the principles of data processing is the company controlling such personal data – and thus ultimately the company’s executive management. Time is running out for companies that have not yet familiarised themselves with the new regulations: At least the core requirements of the GDPR should be implemented in due time given that the sanctions for infringing the data protection rules may be rather severe.
Together with the specialist publisher Energie und Management (E&M), BBH has developed a series of webinars, where experienced data protection law experts of BBH provide specific advice on how companies can implement the GDPR in an efficient and legally sound manner.
