Regulation, digitalisation, electrification: AK REGTP’s annual conference brings together experts and stakeholders from across the energy sector

The stakeholder group AK REGTP sent out the invites to its traditional regulatory conference in Berlin, which in 2019 will be held for the 13th time in 15 years. On 14 May, experts and stakeholders from across the energy sector will come together to discuss the latest issues affecting distribution grids. In addition to matters of regulation, the conference will look at the impact that digitalisation and e-mobility will have on the grid infrastructure. BBH partners Prof. Dr. Christian Theobald and Prof. Dr. Ines Zenke will, as always, host the conference.

When it comes to the specifics of regulation, the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) and the grid sector do not always see eye to eye. This year’s conference of AK REGTP thus once again provides a perfect platform for a constructive dialogue. BBH partner Rudolf Böck will speak on the topic of cost review in the context of the regulation of charges and Vice-President of the Federal Network Agency Peter Franke as well as Managing Director of the German Association of Local Utilities (VKU) Katherina Reiche will present their respective views of the regulatory developments.

Furthermore, the event will bring together conference participants and representatives from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), the industry and sector associations to discuss the most important aspects of digitalisation: What will the provision of public services 4.0 look like in the future? Which role can public utilities play in the digitalisation of cities? How will digitalised infrastructures pave the way for smart cities and municipalities? Last but not least, the link between distribution grids and e-mobility will be examined: How must grids be designed to facilitate e-mobility and which conclusions can be drawn from this for regulation? BBH partner and e-mobility expert Dr. Christian de Wyl will chair a panel discussion with high-profile speakers, bringing together all key stakeholders.

Numerous representatives of many regulatory authorities at federal state level and more than 200 company representatives have announced their attendance.
