On 7 March, the specialist publisher Energie und Management (E&M), the law firm Becker Büttner Held (BBH) and the business consulting company K.Group presented the Energy Manager of the Year award. This year, the award went to Boris Schucht, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Transmission System Operator 50Hertz. The jury selected Mr Schucht due to his “non-ideological commitment to grid expansion in order to facilitate the integration of green electricity into the transmission system”.

The approximately 150 invitees included not only numerous prominent figures from the energy industry but also the designated Federal Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy, Peter Altmaier, who praised the “Energy Manager of the Year” award. The law firm BBH, with BBH partner Prof. Christian Held as a permanent member of the jury, has been supporting the initiative since its inception in 2001.
