Nine different regions across Germany are to develop their own concept to promote hydrogen and fuel cell technology in the framework of the HyStarter project . Becker Büttner Held Consulting AG (BBHC) as well as the companies Spilett, Choice, EE Engineers and Reiner Lemoine Institute make up the consortium that is tasked with the implementation of this project.

Hydrogen and fuel cell technology will play a key role in achieving the climate protection goals and successfully bringing about the energy transition. After all, it is this technology that efficiently connects the energy industry with other sectors such as the transport sector and the building sector.

Out of 85 regions that applied for the HyStarter project of the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI), the following nine regions have been named HyStarters: Kiel, Rügen-Stralsund, the administrative district of Schaumburg, Lusatia, Weimar, the administrative district of Marburg, Neustadt an der Waldnaab, Reutlingen and Allgäu. BBHC and the other members of the consortium now support these regions in developing local hydrogen concepts and in forming a local network of representatives from politics, municipal companies, the industry and commerce as well as the society.

“The energy transition happens within the municipalities,” says Marcel Malcher, member of the managing board of BBHC, who works on the HyStarter project together with his colleagues Hanno Butsch and David Siegler. “We look forward to two years of pioneering work in the field of hydrogen technology together with our project partners.”
