BBH expands its circle of partners and partners counsel

The law firm Becker Büttner Held (BBH) continues investing in the future: BBH appointed two new partners and three new partners counsel with effect from 1 January 2018, who will be covering important areas of practice for the law firm: this development is about the firm’s core practice as well as new approaches.

New partner Dr. Markus Kachel whose main areas of practice include combined heat and power, heat supply and energy efficiency will further expand BBH’s advisory services for installation operators and energy-intensive companies. Dr. Markus Kachel currently focuses on matters of sector coupling as well as site-related energy management (generation, supply, grid operation) and is editor and publisher of the journal Zeitschrift für Umweltrecht. Our clients greatly appreciate his capability of achieving solutions that are legally and economically convincing.

With new partner counsel Nadine Voß, BBH has further expanded the extended management of the legal team advising the industrial sector – one of the law firm’s core areas of practice. Nadine Voß specialises in the regulation of closed distribution networks, matters of grid stability and the optimisation of grid charges in special grid access and grid usage scenarios. In this field, she has advised and successfully represented clients in judicial proceedings including before the Federal Court of Justice (BGH).

While Dr. Markus Kachel and Nadine Voß will be expanding the extended management at the firm’s Berlin office, the management team at our Munich office is also growing. With Markus Ladenburger, BBH appointed as new partner a renowned expert in the field of insolvency law and receivables management who has been working with the law firm from the very beginning: He has been practicing law since 2000, back then still with the law firm Weidenbach & Kollegen in Munich which merged with BBH in 2001. In the spectacular insolvency procedures of Teldafax and Flexstrom, Markus Ladenburger and his team successfully represented several hundred grid operators against claims for repayment in proceedings in and out of court. Furthermore, he played a leading role in the introduction of BBH’s client information system in the area of receivables management.

Already in October 2017, BBH announced the appointment of two new partners counsel at the Erfurt office: Auditor and tax advisor Bianca Engel has been providing advice to clients based in Central Germany since the very foundation of the BBH Erfurt office in October 2014. Dr. Florian Wagner, who has been working as a lawyer at the Berlin office for the past seven years, will further expand the legal practice at BBH Erfurt. This means that our future practice in Erfurt will also cover virtually every important area of energy law. Dr. Wagner’s main areas of practice include market communication, contract management, unbundling, grid access, energy supply and the German Metering Point Operation Act (Messstellenbetriebsgesetz).

Becker Büttner Held is a leading provider of advisory services for energy and infrastructure companies and their customers. Energy and supply companies, particularly public utilities, municipalities and local authorities, industrial companies and international groups are among its core clients. BBH advises these and many other companies and organisations in all legal matters and also assists them with business and strategic advice.
