BBH advises WBM on the acquisition of a large-scale property: A total of 577 residential and three commercial units are changing hands

The law firm Becker Büttner Held (BBH) has provided comprehensive advice to the housing association WBM Wohnungsbaugesellschaft Berlin-Mitte mbH on the acquisition of a total of 577 residential and three commercial units.

Following another project in 2018 when BBH assisted the Berlin-based company WBM in the acquisition of several hundreds of apartments in the district of Neukölln, the law firm has advised WBM on the acquisition of Werner-Düttmann-Siedlung, a housing estate comprising 577 residential and three commercial units in Berlin-Kreuzberg. The neighbourhood was constructed between 1982 and 1984 as a social housing estate and encompasses six sections with four to seven storeys and a total of 40 stairways. The transaction was carried out through the acquisition of a hereditary building right held by several German closed-end real estate funds administered by immoba Liegenschaften GmbH Berlin. The transfer of benefits and burdens of the property is expected to take place at the end of this year.

The Munich-based M&A specialists Wolfram von Blumenthal and Sophia von Hake have provided legal advice to WBM on the million euro deal. “Municipal housing associations are providing social and affordable housing that is urgently required, particularly in Berlin. We are delighted to have been able to support WBM once again in the acquisition of an important real estate portfolio,” says BBH partner Wolfram von Blumenthal.
