With the help of the law firm Becker Büttner Held (BBH), Austria’s largest energy supplier Verbund is further expanding its generating capacity from renewable energy sources in Germany: Within the framework of a cooperation with Visiolar GmbH, Verbund is going to develop PV projects with a capacity of up to 2,000 MW on an area of 2,000 hectares in Brandenburg.

Verbund will take over the undeveloped area – of which 1,400 hectares have already been earmarked for specific PV projects – from Visiolar GmbH, a company of the JLW group. BBH carried out a comprehensive due diligence investigation for Verbund in the context of the joint venture. In addition to licensing and land law issues, the due diligence investigation also focused on aspects of company law as well as energy law, such as the grid connection of the PV installations.

“I am pleased that we were given the opportunity to assist Verbund in further expanding its PV generation in Germany. Last but not least, this cooperation also shows how dynamic the energy market in Europe has become,” says BBH partner and lawyer Jens Vollprecht, who was in charge of the project for BBH.
